Here we are on Friday evening after working one week on the upper deck. This "deckzilla"--some of which you can't see in the photo--is 14 by 24, supported by 6x6 posts. Kurt and Scott have been working in the full heat of the Georgia summer while Andy tries to support their work as best he can. June is delighted with the progress. On Monday we begin working on the lower deck which will be 14 by 22; and by mid-week we should be tying the upper and lower decks together with wide steps so that eventually you'll be able to step out of the sunroom, walk across the deck, take a few steps down, walk across another, and then step down to the paths to the lake. When Polly, Kurt's wife and Scott's mom, gets here sometime this fall, we hope to have a comfortable deck chair in which she can sit and read her latest and most exciting novel. In fact, we hope all of you reading this new post will get in your cars right away, drive down to Cardinal Drive, and step out on the deck. From the deck you'll see our Jackson Lake cove in all its splendor! Thanks to Kurt and Scott!
